Did you ever have one of those days, where everything just goes so well that you feel it deep down in your soul, that God has just given you one of those days:)
First off, my granddaughter brought the mail in earlier than usual, and there it was, my first check for my book. Not only was it my very first sale, he paid for the S&H even though I have stated that I would take care of the tax & the S&H. That isn't all, he sent it in a Hallmark thank you card that said I was the greatest. Isn't that just the sweetest thing! No, it isn't a question. Well sweet William, I have news for you, As my first sale ever, I am putting that check and card in a frame, so there!
Next Kat and I took a bus to Port Richie to have lunch with Steven's parents. It was Kat's first time meeting them. I told her she would love them, and of course, as always, I was right. I knew that they would love her and said so.
We got to the restaurant a half hour early, I told Kat that I wanted to go in to pay for the four of us as Steven's dad always picked up the check. Kat jumped up and ran in. She paid with her Student One card, and said, "You do the same thing!" Such a sweet kid.
We spent the next two and half hours with them and when it was over, well, let's just say, we didn't want to part. They agreed that it feels like we are close blood relatives. Several years ago, this couple was an answer to my fervent prayers and I still, thank God for them.
Hey Steven, I see you lurking there in the shadows, don't forget who I am and that I know you better than anyone. FYI your parents and I have joined forces and are praying for you always.
I can't say who loves you more, probably them, but I am very close to their lead. You have no excuse to be such a "Prodigal Son"" so get over yourself. We aren't about to let you go!
When I got home, I sent the pictures we'd taken to them and then looked up James Claude Daugherty. That was Jack Daugherty's father. You know, the baseball player. Yep, that's the one!

STOP THE PRESS
Yep, I had to stop the press in order to save my hide. Did you know, you cannot write the song lyrics of a favorite song in a book, without permission. Does anyone know how to get permission from Paul Harrison for his song, "World Without Love?" That was the song I was singing the day they locked me up.
Furthermore, you are not allowed to use pictures that aren't your own, even if they are over 100 years old, without permission. Now I have to come up with a new book cover as well. Does it ever stop?
Well, it's like I told my granddaughter, if my life was easy, I wouldn't have anything to write about! Right?
I am halfway done editing my book and should be done by this evening. I asked my artist sister to draw me a picture for my book cover and I expect that to be finished also this evening. Heavy sigh, I also relented and am going through the book and changing the names to protect the not-so innocent as more than one loved one has cautioned me to do so. My book shall be back on the market by Friday.
Am I allowed to quote Gilda Radner? well, I have to! "It's always something!"

You Raise Me Up
I read a comment that was posted to my "
"Momma at the beach while I was in the loony bin"
blog today, that really touched my heart.

- I am so sorry Kathy. When I knew you back then, I had no idea what you had gone through. You are truly amazing and I'm glad you are able to work this all out. God bless you girlfriend.

I am sure there were many people back then who would have been more supportive had they known the circumstances, but who could I trust?
My older sister has said, and I believe she is right, "Everything is as it should be, God is in control." I am who I am because of all my trials and tribulations, and believe me, I have had some doozies!
Reading this out loud, my granddaughter and I had to laugh, I said, "Right", she shook her head up and down laughing. See, so it's not so bad if you're able to keep a sense of humor.

It's on Amazon.com
What kind of mother allows her 14 year old daughter to be locked up in
a state mental institution after being brutally raped? The same kind
that would then go 1400 miles away to vacation in Miami for the next
three months. In the depths of despair, I turned to the Bible and
prayed for a miracle. I am convinced that God looked down at this
pitiful child and sent an angel of mercy to rescue me from my hell.
This is the story of my 7 month stay at the Hudson River State Hospital
and of the nurse who taught me how to love.

A non-traditional Christian vagabond, born in NYC on February 14,
1950, Kathy believes the church has missed God's main message of love:
Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything except to love one another,
for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For now, Kathy is
living in Florida with her granddaughter and dog Bella. She has yet to
put down roots as she says, “There will be time for that when I am old.”

Dumb question #9684390 WHY DO WE PUT FLOWERS ON GRAVES?
Why do we put flowers on graves? I mean I know that they did in cave days to cover up the smell of the rotting bodies, but that isn't the case anymore.
The ancient pagans made floral offerings to the dead. The
publication How Did It Begin?, by R. Brasch, states: “To send a wreath
to a funeral and to lay it on the coffin or the grave is a relic of
ancient superstition and idol worship.” What was the purpose of their so doing? The author of the same
publication adds: “The floral wreath is a survival of the belief that it
was necessary to provide comforts for the departed. The flowers were
also regarded as, literally, a floral offering, a sacrifice to the dead.
They were meant to keep them happy, lest, being dissatisfied, they
might haunt the mourners.” So the pagans, in their mistaken belief that
the deceased had an immortal soul, honored these dead with floral
offerings.
I am not judging, I'm just asking.

Momma at the beach while I was in the loony bin
For a very long time I believed my mother was the most beautiful woman in the world, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and I loved her so much! Even when she left me in the loony bin and went on vacation to Miami beach for three months, meaning no visits or home visits for me, I didn't think anything of it. It was clear that once my mother became a Seeley, and no longer a Hiatt, we Hiatt's were no longer her family, it was as simple as that.
Last night I asked my baby sister, seen here with our mother, to send me a picture of my mom at the beach the year I "turned 15 in the loony bin" so I could post it here. Julie is a real Jewel, she did it pronto. I hadn't realized how it would effect me After all these years, I broke down and cried bitter tears. I thought I had gotten over my mother's obvious unconcern for me. Writing the book took four years to finish because it kept me in such a depressed state, it was crippling; I had to put it down for months at a time. I didn't think that just seeing my mother's picture enjoying herself spending a day at the beach while I was struggling to maintain my sanity would send me spiraling downward.
My granddaughter has suggested I add a picture of me just before the rape. She says it shows how sad I was even before the incident. When I said that I was smiling in the picture, she replied, " You were smiling, if you can call it that, but your smile didn't reach your eyes."

CHS Adonis
On the first day of seventh grade, my last class was study hall with Mr. Turk. It was the only class I had upstairs. I hadn't learned the rules about going up the down staircase yet and since the staircase going down was so close to the hall that led to the seventh and eighth grade wing, I proceeded to go up the down staircase. Half-way up I saw the most beautiful young man coming down. He had light blond hair that was just a tad too long for the day, and the bluest eyes. He was tall and slender, but not too slender, I'd say just about right. I don't know why I did it, maybe because I knew to him I was just a little girl and so I was playing it up. Always the clown, I turned around and followed him down the stairs looking like a love sick puppy dog. From then on, I would turn around and follow him to his next class every time I saw him.
One day as I was coming out of the girl's locker room backwards, with my arms full of books, I ran right into "Him" I was knocked to the floor, my books scattered everywhere. "Oh, I'm so sorry," he said. I looked up into those beautiful baby blues and said, "Oh that's okay." I was rewarded with the most winning smile as he helped me to my feet, handing me my books he asked if I were okay. I nodded, the bell rang and we both departed in opposite directions, hurrying to our next class which we were already late for. I never followed him after that. He had been such a gentleman, I didn't find it funny to single him out like that, making him a target for his peers to poke fun of.

My book has gone to print - Amazing!!!
Happy news:) as of yesterday afternoon, my book has gone to print and should be up on Amazon.com on Friday. They asked if I wanted a proof of my revisions and I thought, why? I'm too anxious.
Here's the deal, I am buying a carton of books to sign, I intend to have a book signing here so if anyone there wants one, I'll send you one for the price on the cover, no S&H. The book is $8.95 and I am going to do my 10% tithing thing with $1. from each copy sold going to kids in need.
I have begun writing my follow-up book, "Back to Catskill" or "After the Loony Bin" or something like that. I am open to suggestions. Oh, I have an idea, if somebody can come up with a really good title for the book, I'll send you a free copy of this one.
The book will be about the year-and-a-half following my release from the loony bin and how much fun it was to go back home and back to CHS. I have just been told that even if you don't use last names, you can still be sued for defamation of character even if it's all true! Is that so? Well, too late now... The last chapter is a little bit about what happened during the next year-and-a-half. I am bound by contract not to give it away but I will tell you this,
from the book, paraphrased,
I wish I could tell you that the rest of my story read like a fairy tale, but this is real life and that wasn't the case. One of the rah-rah girls leaked out that I had spent the previous year in a mental institution. She taunted me in class, every day, making my life a living hell.
I quit school a month after I started my sophomore year.

He that judgeth me is the Lord.
What all these people have in common is their love for the Lord. They come from different backgrounds and different times, but they are living or have lived their lives doing God's work, "In Their Own Quiet Way". So before you judge a brother, or sister by their religion, remember what the Good book says.
Here's another verse you may want to think about:
11Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
12There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
Matthew 25:31-44
31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Above all else, God knows our hearts
I was going to write the Bible verses dealing with love today but after reading many other blogs from people of various religious backgrounds, I feel compelled to write the following.
1 Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, 2 “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”
3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’;[a] and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’[b] 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— 6 then he need not honor his father or mother.’[c] Thus you have made the commandment[d] of God of no effect by your tradition.
7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:
8 ‘ These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And[e]honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”
12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly
Father has not planted will be uprooted.
14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
15 Then Peter answered and said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.”
16 So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not difile a man.”
21 Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22
And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to
Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is
severely demon-possessed.” 23 But He answered her not a word.
And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.”
24 But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”
26 But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
James Version (KJV)
Romans 14
1Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.2For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
4Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
5One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
7For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
9For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
15But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
16Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
19Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
20For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.
21It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
22Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
23And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
